Actual pump designs will vary from what is shown above.
Live Auction
In keeping with our 2010 theme, Pumps on Parade, the live auction will feature one-of-a-kind gas pumps created by six of the country’s most celebrated automotive artists. These artists will also lead a panel discussion on automotive art as part of the evening’s festivities. Auction proceeds benefit the AACA Family.
Pumps in Progress
Here's a sneak peak at a few of the pumps-in-progress. On the left, Roger Blanchard evokes an early racing theme entitled Maserlene, and on the right, Dan McCrary brings a rusty old pickup truck to life. Below left, Dave Snyder depicts a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 at a classic Mobil station. Below right, Sue Steele Thomas captures a dreamy Jaguar in her Visions of Motion, based on an original gouache painting, Jag in the Clouds. Learn more about the artists.
Ken Eberts details a Texaco station from a bygone era in You can trust your car to the man who wears the star.
Custom artwork by Dan Reed
Dan Reed will be at the AACA Museum this Sunday, August 1st, to work on the painting live in the Rotunda of the Museum!
Automotive Artist Dan Reed is donating a custom piece of automotive artwork that is currently being created. Top photo shows last year's piece. Below is his preliminary sketch for the 2010 painting.
Two of Dan Reed's paintings, "I Can Make It I" and "I Can Make It II", were featured in the August issue of Hemmings' Classic Car magazine. Dan notes, “Every day since the magazine came out has resulted in a steady stream of orders for prints from all around the country! Whenever I put cars and trains together in a painting it’s worked out well, so I hope this translates to an exciting auction piece!” Check back soon to watch the progress of this year’s piece!
